Channel 7 confirms another season of Big Brother Australia

Channel 7 confirms reports that it has renewed Big Brother for a new run in 2021, with Sonia Kruger returning as host.

Channel 7 has confirmed reports that it has renewed the revamped version of Big Brother for a second season.

After an absence of almost six years, the seminal reality show returned to Aussie screens earlier this month with a switch to the North American version of the format, which involves the housemates voting each other out rather than the public.

Despite an initial skepticism from the show's hardcore fanbase, the new format has been widely welcomed by viewers, prompting Seven to order a new run for 2021 with Sonia Kruger returning as host.

"It's been fantastic to reunite Big Brother with his fans and see a whole new generation of Australians fall in love with the show," said Kruger.

"He'll be back cheekier than ever so our new housemates better be ready to play. Big Brother is about to go to the next level and I'm totally here for it!"

Peter Newman of production company Endemol Shine Australia said: "We're extremely proud that Seven has commissioned us to deliver another series of the reality show that started it all, Big Brother.

"We're also very grateful to the fans of the show who have embraced the evolution of this incredible format.

"In 2021 Big Brother will be back more mischievous and devious than ever before. You won't believe what he's got planned for the Big Brother house."

The current season will conclude next month with a live finale where Australia will vote for the winner from the final three.
