Britain's Got Talent reveals first look at new judges' desks

ITV releases a first look at the new socially-distanced setup for the judges on Britain's Got Talent.

ITV has released first-look images of the new socially-distanced setup on Britain's Got Talent.

After a three-month break caused by the coronavirus pandemic, the show finally returns this weekend with the first of the semi-final episodes.

Normally the semi-finals air live over five consecutive nights but this year they are all being pre-recorded and broadcast over five consecutive Saturday nights instead.

Filming on the first two semi-finals has already been completed, with the final three due to be recorded over the course of this weekend.

To comply with social distancing rules, the usual single judges' desk has been replaced with four individual desks for Amanda Holden, David Walliams, Alesha Dixon and Ashley Banjo, the latter of whom has been brought in to fill in for Simon Cowell while he recovers from a broken back.

The government's current health and safety guidelines mean that having a live studio audience in attendance is not possible, although instead the show is introducing a giant audience video wall featuring hundreds of people watching along from their respective homes.

The first semi-final, which will feature Banjo's dance group Diversity as special guest performers, airs Saturday at 8pm on ITV.
