BBC to bring back Morning Live for new run in 2021

The BBC announces that magazine show Morning Live will return for a new series early in 2021.

The BBC has confirmed that magazine show Morning Live will be back for a new extended run in early 2021.

The programme - hosted by Kym Marsh and Gethin Jones - launched at the end of October in the 9.15am to 10am slot with a focus on topical and expert content in areas such as health, security, food, DIY and pets.

According to the corporation, the show has pulled in an average of 1.4 million viewers a day to date, consistently outperforming ITV's long-established Lorraine in the same timeslot.

"This year has been really challenging and unsettling for us all," said Marsh. "To have been able to keep our viewers company, and hopefully bring them a bit of positivity, as well as some useful tips and information, has been a real privilege for Gethin and me.

"I can't wait to be back on screen with our Morning Live family and I can't think of a better team to be beside as we navigate whatever 2021 throws at us."

BBC daytime chief Carla-Maria Lawson added: "We're delighted to be bringing back Morning Live for 2021.

"It's clearly answering a need from viewers for a space where they know their real life concerns are reflected and addressed by trusted experts, as well as offering good company and much-needed positivity. I look forward to seeing what the team has got in store for us next year!"

The current run of Morning Live will conclude today with a special-hour long programme featuring a festive performance from Alexandra Burke.
