Charlotte Moore promoted to BBC's chief content officer

BBC One controller Charlotte Moore is promoted to the BBC Board and the role of the corporation's chief content officer.

New BBC director-general Tim Davie has promoted BBC One controller Charlotte Moore to become the corporation's chief content officer.

The role will see her take responsibility for commissioning across all of the BBC's TV channels, iPlayer, radio stations and children's content, but not BBC News or programming in the Nations and Regions.

Moore, who was one of the contenders for Davie's job, has also joined the BBC Board.

"It is a great pleasure to welcome Charlotte Moore to the BBC Board," said BBC chairman Sir David Clementi.

"Charlotte has made a huge success of bringing audiences to our television portfolio - resulting in record breaking figures for iPlayer and ensuring the BBC can reach audiences beyond the critical linear channels.

"She will do a brilliant job as Chief Content Officer and be an important asset to the BBC Board."

Moore had served as controller of BBC One for more than seven years.
