Eurosport will close as a brand in the UK on February 28 as content is integrated into TNT Sports and discovery+.

The Eurosport brand will be closed down in the UK and Ireland after more than 36 years next month, it has been announced.

Following the takeover of BT Sport by Warner Bros. Discovery - owner of Eurosport - in 2022 and the subsequent rebrand of BT Sport as TNT Sports, the company outlined its intention to bring Eurosport under the TNT branding after the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Now the broadcaster has confirmed its decision to close down the two Eurosport channels in the UK and Ireland on February 28, with all of the content being subsumed into the four existing TNT Sports linear channels and the discovery+ service.

The move means that TNT and discovery+ will now also be home to the Olympics from 2026 to 2032, the French Open, the Australian Open, snooker, Grand Tour Cycling, winter sports and more alongside TNT's existing offering of the Premier League, Champions League, Europa League, Serie A and Premiership Rugby.

While Eurosport operated a free service, TNT exists behind a paywall, but in response WBD said that its free channel Quest will offer additional free sports programming, including every MotoGP Sprint race.

When WBD launches the premium HBO-fuelled service Max in the UK in January 2026, TNT Sports content will move to that streamer and no longer be available via discovery+, which will instead be home to the broadcaster's large array of factual, news, lifestyle and reality programming.

Announcing the changes, Scott Young, svp of WBD Sports Europe, said: "Combining Eurosport and TNT Sports content in the UK and Ireland will enable us to offer a single, premium viewing experience for sports fans.

"This move in the UK and Ireland will also continue to best deliver value for our leagues and federation partners, as we continue our 35 years plus commitment to investment and championing of sport on our screens, which remains a fundamental part of the success of grassroots through to elite.

"TNT Sports will also continue to bring more content to fans on Warner Bros. Discovery's free-to-air channel Quest. In 2025, this will include broadcasting every MotoGP Sprint race, adding to existing live Bennetts British Superbikes coverage, a brand-new weekly cycling show covering all key moments of the season, continue highlights of the Giro d'Italia and La Vuelta a España, plus premiere a range of new sports documentaries."

The Eurosport brand will continue to operate outside the UK and Ireland in over 50 other countries and territories.
