Castleford Tigers star Jacques O'Neill reportedly joins the lineup for this year's Love Island.

Rugby league player Jacques O'Neill has reportedly signed up for the new series of Love Island.

The 23-year-old, who plays for Castleford Tigers in the Super League, is said to be putting a pause on his sporting career to spend the summer in the reality show's infamous villa.

O'Neill has yet to feature for Castleford this season after undergoing major hamstring surgery almost a year ago and has been working his way back to fitness since last November.

Love Island is well known for featuring sports stars on the show, with Tommy Fury, Greg O'Shea and Ovie Soko all past contestants.

Should O'Neill be in the final lineup, he may not be alone as a professional sports star among the contestants this year, with boxer Joshua Le Grove and basketballer Jordan Spencer also said to be flying out to Mallorca.

The new series starts on ITV2 on June 6.
