Coronation Street star Sally Carman says that having her character Abi reunite on screen with son Seb was "just gorgeous".

Coronation Street star Sally Carman has said that the return of Harry Visinoni as her character Abi's son Seb 'brightened her day'.

In a storyline that aired almost four years ago, Seb was tragically murdered in a gang attack led by Corey Brent (Maximus Evans), just as Abi was beginning to turn her life around.

In the new year Abi came to the aid of a dying Mason (Luca Toolan) in the Precinct, but the ordeal stirred up memories of her dead son - and in recent weeks she has started to experience visions of Seb as her PTSD takes hold.

"I just loved it," said Carman of having Visinoni back on set. "It was just gorgeous and just brightened my day.

"Even though we did those horrible scenes, he was so eager, and so happy to be back. He loved it. He was buzzing from it. He got every little bit of whatever he could out of it.

"And it's just that kind of energy you can't help but be buoyed up by it, and full of positive energy anyway. Having Abi and Seb back together was special."

Carman, who has now been on the cobbles for seven years, went on to admit that acting the scenes was "the easiest thing to do in the world" as it brought back memories of the devastating storyline from 2021.

"To act out those scenes when he appears has been amazing," she continued. "There's so much history there and and there is a realism to the scenes, because you've gone through it, whether it's acting or not.

"It was the easiest thing to do in the world, to respond to and to play that, because it was actually happening in real time with him there in the room and it was, it was a phenomenal opportunity, and I loved it.

"I didn't realise that that was actually a thing that could happen with PTSD - to realise that people are suffering like that is horrific, absolutely horrendous. Again, it's just bringing awareness and more understanding to what PTSD actually is."

Coronation Street continues Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 7am on ITVX and at 8pm on ITV1.
