Ex-EastEnders star Stephen Lord joins Coronation Street in the role of Seb's dad.

Stephen Lord has joined the cast of Coronation Street playing the father of murdered Seb (Harry Visinoni).

The 49-year-old is best known for his year-long stint on EastEnders as Jase Dyer, the father of Jay who was brutally murdered by a gang of thugs in August 2008.

News of the character and the casting was revealed by Sally Carman, who plays Seb's mother Abi Franklin.

"He's a wrong'un. I like what they did with that," she is quoted as saying by The Mirror.

"There were more scenes we were meant to do together – with me and Stephen Lord, who plays him, but because I got ill, they were re-written.

"It was good because the audience are left with no doubt that Abi doesn't like him and has no time for him, but she simply knows he can help her with something that isn't emotional.

"In the scenes that I have done so far, he's trying to worm his way in and she's like, 'Do one'.

"I love when Corrie starts bringing different characters in, it's awesome. It pads out Abi even more, and I love it."

The trial for Seb's murder ended with a shock twist last week as perpetrator Corey (Maximus Evans) was found not guilty.
