Former EastEnders showrunner Dominic Treadwell-Collins is hospitalised after being knocked out by his BAFTA award.

Former EastEnders executive producer Dominic Treadwell-Collins has been taken to hospital after a freak accident involving his BAFTA award.

In a series of posts on Instagram Story, the 42-year-old revealed that he was knocked unconscious when the heavy gong fell off a cupboard and hit him on the head and nose.

"So.. This. Note the newly chipped nose.. Fell off the top of a cupboard and onto my head," he wrote. "3.5kg of bronze. A lot of blood and then I passed out. Ambulanced to A&E."

He added: "Think Bafta came off worse... Drama."

Treadwell-Collins was in charge of EastEnders between 2013 and 2016, during which time he introduced the Carter family, headed by Danny Dyer and Kellie Bright, reintroduced the likes of Gillian Taylforth and Natalie Cassidy to the show and produced Dame Barbara Windsor's final episodes as Peggy Mitchell.
