Former EastEnders actor Aaron Sidwell has revealed that there is a distinct possibility he could earn nothing this year due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The 31-year-old played Steven Beale in the BBC soap for two separate stints, the second of which ended in 2017 when the character was killed off after suffering a heart attack.
Sidwell has since gone on to enjoy a successful career on the stage, appearing in numerous Shakespeare productions and taking a lead role on the UK tour of Wicked, but his work has completely dried up because of the UK shutdown.
In a post on Twitter, he told fans: "It's hard to keep smiling when everything I've worked so hard to build for 13 years could be taken away because I had three successful financial years.
"I could, quite seriously, earn £0 in 12 months. #selfemployed #fallenthroughthecracks #fatheroftwo."
Under the UK government's coronavirus support scheme, self-employed workers are entitled to cash payments if their average annual profits for the last three years are less than £50,000.
