Lucy Benjamin is reprising her role as Lisa Fowler on EastEnders for a short stint this summer, it has been confirmed.
The actress originally joined the soap in 1998 but left five years later when her character memorably shot ex-boyfriend Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) before fleeing Walford with their daughter Louise.
Benjamin has returned to the role several times since, most recently from 2019 to 2020, when Lisa fled to Portugal with Louise - although this time joined by Louise's newborn daughter Peggy.
The exact reason for Lisa's latest return to the Square is unknown, although she will be joined by granddaughter Peggy - no doubt causing issues for Peggy's father Keanu (Danny Walters).
"I can't wait to return as Lisa after leaving for Portugal with Louise and Peggy," said Benjamin.
"No doubt, in true Lisa fashion, she will bring plenty of drama for many of the characters, which is why playing her is such a delight."
EastEnders exec producer Chris Clenshaw added: "We couldn't be more thrilled to have Lisa back for a short while as she and Peggy cause trouble between the happy couple, Sharon and Keanu."
The news comes days after it was confirmed that Michelle Collins and Adam Woodyatt will be returning to the soap as Cindy and Ian Beale.
