Emmerdale's autumn storylines revealed

ITV reveals the major plotlines to come on Emmerdale in the months ahead.

ITV has revealed details of the storylines to come on Emmerdale this autumn.

The broadcaster has confirmed that both Emmerdale and sister soap Coronation Street will return to six episodes a week from mid-September and has also released a guide to the upcoming plotlines.

The major storyline in the months ahead is set to be "the murder and cover-up of one of Emmerdale's most notorious characters" which leads to one resident of the village "spiralling into darkness" and "intent on self-destruction".

Moira's past will be delved into through the arrival of her brother, who is described as "dangerous, fearless and sharp-witted" and will make "a huge and irrevocable impact" when he arrives in the village.

Meanwhile, there is a hint that Belle might commit an act of betrayal and Manpreet will welcome her sister to the Dales.
