Kate Garraway reveals Boris Johnson sent supportive letter

Kate Garraway reveals that Prime Minister Boris Johnson sent her a hand-written letter after learning of her husband's struggles with coronavirus.

Good Morning Britain host Kate Garraway has revealed that Prime Minister Boris Johnson sent her a handwritten note of support during her husband Derek Draper's battle with coronavirus.

Draper, 53, has now spent more than five months in hospital as he begins a long recovery from the disease, which has ravaged his internal organs including his heart, kidneys and lungs.

Johnson himself was admitted to intensive care for a period in April after contracting COVID-19 and reached out to Garraway with his well-wishes once he had recovered.

"Boris hand-wrote me a really lovely note saying he was thinking about me and Carrie [Symonds, his fiancee] has sent us messages via other people saying she knows it's very tough," Garraway told YOU magazine.

"So I have seen a very human side to them.

"Boris's public face gets a lot of stick but the challenge is that politicians are all in the dark just like us."

More than 27 million people worldwide have now tested positive for coronavirus, while the death toll is creeping closer to the grim 1 million milestone.
