Lucy Allan named as new Hollyoaks executive producer

Lucy Allan is named as the new executive producer of Hollyoaks and will take over from Bryan Kirkwood in January.

Lucy Allan has been named as the new executive producer of Hollyoaks, taking over from long-running showrunner Bryan Kirkwood.

Currently working for the BBC in its children's department, Allan will take over the new role - as well as the wider job of head of continuing drama at production company Lime Pictures - in January.

Over the summer Kirkwood's departure was announced just prior to the soap's 25th anniversary celebrations, although for scheduling reasons, the plotlines that he masterminded will be seen on screen until June 2021.

"To arrive at Hollyoaks as it reaches its milestone of 25 years on screen was an opportunity too good to miss," she said in a statement.

"Thanks to Bryan and his team I have inherited a show that is loved by its audience and I will relish the chance to move it forward into its next exciting chapter."

Allan's current role at the BBC sees her oversee programmes such as The Worst Witch, Get Even and Hetty Feather.
