Jordan North has insisted that he was genuinely terrified when he took on the trials on I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!
The 30-year-old Radio 1 DJ, who finished as runner-up on Friday night, got off to the worst possible start when he vomited before abseiling down a cliff on day one of the series.
North went on to compete in seven of the trials and despite appearing frightened in almost every one, had the joint-best record of the campmates with a star-win percentage of 92%.
Speaking to The Sun about his experience, North said: "I've heard a couple people saying, 'Was he playing up to it? Was he faking it?' I mean, how can you fake being sick? If you see me in that viper one, I was physically shaking beforehand. You could see me sweating. I was that scared.
"Genuinely, what you see is what you get. There was no playing up to cameras, I was totally myself, all of my family and friends have said that as well. And there was none of that in there for me."
He added: "I've lived my whole life in this safe lane, and I never step out of it. I had to start being brave and face up to my fears and my insecurities and anxieties.
"That was my journey, I went in there a little timid mouse. And they came out with at the end dare I say it, a bit of a lion. Not a big lion, not a roaring lion, but a lion that can hold his own.
"And that was my journey. And that was from doing trials. This has changed my life. It was a life-changing experience."
North finished second on the show to author Giovanna Fletcher, who was crowned the first ever 'Queen of the Castle' in the final public vote.
