Killing Eve's executive producer Suzanne Heathcote has teased the possible future for Villanelle after the events of the season three finale.
The episode saw Villanelle (Jodie Comer) reiterate her desire to step down from her day job as an assassin, although she still appeared to enjoy killing a rival by throwing her onto a tube track.
"It's not that she's suddenly grown a conscience," Heathcote told TV Line. "She was never a serial killer. She always did it for money, or for material wealth, but she got a thrill out of it.
"And suddenly, the desire to do it has left her. And when that's the one thing that people think is the only useful thing about you, it's like, what does that leave her with?
"So who knows what happens in season four, whether she regains that thrill again? Maybe she does, or maybe she goes on a whole new journey."
The episode also appeared to resolve the death of Kenny (Sean Delaney), with Konstantin (Kim Bodnia) claiming that the youngster fell off the roof accidentally while they chatted about the Twelve.
"I wouldn't know if I'd definitely believe Konstantin," Heathcote added. "I think Konstantin will say whatever he needs to say to save his skin.
"I have a very specific opinion, and I don't want to dictate a definite answer, but I would say that's an opaque one there. The 'did he/didn't he' is definitely not answered."
Meanwhile, Dasha (Dame Harriet Walter) was seen apparently taking her last breath in hospital after being hit with a golf club by Villanelle and trodden on by Eve (Sandra Oh) - and Heathcote is adamant that the character is indeed dead.
"She was written to be dead in the script. She's dead," she said. "They may find a way to resurrect her in season four, but yeah, the way we wrote it, the intention was: Her heart had stopped. She's gone. She's left us."
The finale of Killing Eve is available now on BBC iPlayer.
