Cooking Style: "If I had to define my style of cooking it would be Indian with a modern twist. My mum inspires my food, as she always produces flawless dishes with a smile on her face. I'm also inspired by pioneers like Gordon Ramsay, to perfect the art of cooking and to tell my story through my food."
Why MasterChef?: "I applied to the competition to test myself against the best in the country and to have John and Gregg taste my food. I wanted to live the dream and see if I have what it takes. I'm quite a quiet person, so I wanted to push myself out of my comfort zone, showcase my talent and tell my story - on a plate!"
Ambition: "Just appearing on the show is a dream and I consider myself very lucky to have achieved that. I'd like my own food truck business where I would make a variety of Asian foods - from Indian to Thai to Korean - with classic desserts such as lemon posset, crème brulée and tiramisu. I would call it Shreya's fusion kitchen!
"I'd also love a small catering business and tackle the big Asian wedding market scene with my take on modern Indian cooking, or write a cookbook and share my recipes. My dream is just to show my number one fan, my daughter, Shreya that you should always chase your dreams and never stop grinding and working hard to achieve them."
MasterChef continues tonight at 9pm on BBC One and iPlayer.
