BBC adds Battlestar Galactica to iPlayer

The BBC acquires Battlestar Galactica and will make it available on iPlayer next month.

The BBC has acquired all four seasons of Battlestar Galactica and will make them available for free on iPlayer next month.

The acclaimed sci-fi show will also get an outing on BBC Two from on September 5, at which point the entire series will be made available on iPlayer.

The number of boxsets available through iPlayer has been stealthily ramped up over the last few months in response to increased demand due to the coronavirus lockdown.

"Battlestar Galactica is regarded as one of the best sci-fi series ever made and it holds appeal for anyone who loves to immerse themselves in top quality drama," said Dan McGolpin, controller of BBC iPlayer.

"It joins Fort Salem, Heroes, Devs, His Dark Materials, Doctor Who and Torchwood to form an incredible range of science fiction and fantasy series available on demand on BBC iPlayer."

The show originally aired in the UK on Sky One.
