Blind Date "probably" axed by Channel 5

Channel 5's programming head says that he "probably won't" bring back Blind Date for another series.

Channel 5's programming head Ben Frow has revealed that he will "probably" axe the revived version of Blind Date.

Under its original guise, the show - hosted by the late Cilla Black - was a staple of Saturday nights on ITV between 1985 and 2003.

The series returned to screens on Channel 5 in 2017 with Paul O'Grady as the new host and Mel Sykes providing the voiceover.

To date there have been four series of the revived version, comprising 33 episodes, but Frow has suggested that it will not be returning for more.

Discussing Blind Date and Gino's Win Your Wish List, the exec told the Edinburgh TV Festival: "They are both very expensive shows, they are hard to schedule on Channel 5.

"Blind Date we haven't recommissioned at the moment. I probably won't if I'm honest about it."
