Doctor Alex determined to "tackle" mental health after brother's death

Doctor Alex George says that he has a new determination to tackle mental health issues following the death of his younger brother last month.

Doctor Alex George has revealed that he is determined to tackle the issue of mental health following the death of his younger brother Llyr last month.

The 20-year-old tragically succumbed to mental health issues just weeks before he was due to begin medical school, leaving Alex and his family devastated.

Writing on Instagram today, the former Love Island star told followers: "There is no doubt that my life changed immeasurably two weeks ago. We are thrown into the deep end at times, however, with family and friends we can overcome even the most seemingly insurmountable challenges.

"It is now time for me to head back to London, to reflect, rebuild and grow. I already have a fire in me, things I want to tackle and change, especially when it comes to mental health.

"For now I just want to say thank you to all of you who have supported me. The kindness has been truly overwhelming. Please know it has helped me no end and continues to get me through each day."

Over the weekend Alex admitted that he was "holding by a thread" after a troll questioned why he was still active on social media.
