SM Entertainment reveals plans for the UK and Ireland's first dedicated LGBTQI TV channel, OUTtv, launching next month.

The UK and Ireland's first dedicated LGBTQI TV channel, OUTtv, will launch on April 1, SM Entertainment can reveal.

The new premium channel will have a schedule including movies, reality shows, documentaries, camp telenovellas, gay romcoms and original OUT programming.

The launch lineup includes RuPaul gameshow Gay For Pay, reality show Shade - Queens of NYC, documentary Being Divine and the premiere of movie thriller M/M.

The channel is already available in several European countries, including the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and Spain and is not just popular with LGBTQI audiences; around 40% of OUTtv viewers are straight women.

A spokesperson told SM Entertainment that the channel would initially be available through Sky only, although more platforms are expected to follow.

OUTtv will be available as a premium add-on channel for £9.99 a month and €11.99 in Ireland, although annual subscriptions can be purchased for £99. Viewers can order the channel through the out.tv website.

The channel hopes to engage fully with the UK and Irish LGBTQI community and has plans to launch a nationwide contest this summer to find "the face of OUTtv".

OUTtv will be available on Sky channel 330.
