Little Britain revival to proceed despite Netflix removal?

Matt Lucas and David Walliams are said to be considering reviving Little Britain as a podcast.

The proposed revival of Little Britain is reportedly still going ahead despite the show's recent removal from streaming services.

The comedy, from Matt Lucas and David Walliams, was pulled by Netflix and the BBC due to its use of blackface for characters such as Desiree DeVere and The Minstrels.

Earlier this year it was reported that Netflix was in discussions with the pair to produce a new, 'no-holds barred' series but those plans have now been canned amid the renewed backlash surrounding the show.

According to The Mirror, however, Lucas and Walliams have not completely given up on Little Britain and are now considering reviving it as a podcast, bypassing the need for them to get dressed in character.

"Spotify is among those who have mooted David and Matt as targets to commission a podcast with," a source told the newspaper.

"They'd love for it to be around Little Britain, off the back of the success last year of their Radio 2 Little Britain show. They're both huge names, so it would be sure to be an instant hit.

"It's looking even more likely after conversations with Netflix about a Little Britain comeback have come to a standstill due to political correctness reigning in TV at present.

"David and Matt are aware that podcasting is huge and is growing. It's much less time-consuming as no filming is required. Podcasting a series is being given much due consideration."

Little Britain first started life as a series on Radio 4 before making the transition to TV.
