Michael C Hall admits original Dexter ending was "unsatisfying"

Dexter star Michael C Hall reveals that he shared fans' frustrations with the original ending to the show, which will return as a miniseries later in 2021.

Dexter star Michael C Hall has admitted that he is looking forward to rewriting the show's legacy with its upcoming new season.

Late last year US network Showtime announced the surprise news that the drama, which starred Hall as serial killer Dexter Morgan, will return for a new 10-episode miniseries some eight years after the show ended.

The original series finale was met with much criticism from fans for its plotline that saw Dexter seemingly die in a boating accident before beginning a new life as a lumberjack.

"People found the way that show left things pretty unsatisfying, and there's always been a hope that a story would emerge that would be worth telling," Hall told The Daily Beast.

"I include myself in the group of people that wondered, 'What the hell happened to that guy?'"

Of the revival, he added: "The story that's being told is worth telling."

The miniseries is expected to be shot over the coming months for broadcast towards the end of the year.
