One Direction 'planning 10th anniversary gig, TV show, new music'

One Direction's rumoured 10-year anniversary project could reportedly include a new single and a TV special.

One Direction are reportedly planning to stage a huge gig, a TV special and potentially release new music in order to mark their 10th anniversary.

The five-piece boyband - Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson - formed on The X Factor in 2010 but have been on hiatus for the last four years.

Malik left the group in March 2015 but is thought to be part of the reunion project, and in recent days the other four have all followed him on social media, although he has yet to return the favour.

"There's still a long way to go and a lot of hurdles. Obviously, at the moment anything they do would have to be done virtually," a source told Page Six. "But there's a lot of goodwill between them now and they want to make something happen."

The US gossip site claims that the group are considering a TV special and a new single as part of their plans, although they have ruled out undertaking a full tour.

Last week Payne admitted that the five have been chatting extensively of late, adding that there are a "number of different things that we are all working on".
