Richard and Judy return to C4 for lockdown book club

Richard and Judy are to return to Channel 4 for a new lockdown book club series.

Richard Madeley and Judy Finnigan are returning to Channel 4 for a new series 11 years after their chat show ended, it has been announced.

The couple are best known for their long-running stint hosting This Morning from 1998 until 2001, when they quit to host a teatime chat show called Richard & Judy on Channel 4.

In 2008 the pair switched to digital channel Watch but their show lasted less than a year before being axed due to poor ratings.

Richard and Judy have recently returned to This Morning for guest stints and have now signed up for Richard & Judy: Keep Reading and Carry On, a fast turnaround series based around their popular book club venture.

The show will be filmed at their home and will feature book recommendations alongside virtual interviews with celebrities and authors.

"It is no secret that Judy and I are avid readers and we are excited to return to Channel 4 to share what we love with viewers," said Madeley.

Finnigan added: "Books can transport you to incredible places from the comfort of your sofa and so there is no better time to share our top picks for lockdown reads and hear from viewers, celebrities and authors about the books that have helped them whilst staying at home."

Richard & Judy: Keep Reading and Carry On will air over one week from Monday, May 4.
