The provisional findings are released after the autopsy of Liam Payne, who died in Argentina on Wednesday night.

The preliminary findings have reportedly been revealed following the autopsy of Liam Payne, who tragically lost his life in Argentina yesterday.

The 31-year-old musician, who found fame as a member of One Direction, fell from the internal balcony of his third-floor room at a hotel in Buenos Aires, killing him instantly.

According to Infobae, his autopsy was conducted locally by two forensic pathologists, who concluded that he died directly as a result of "multiple trauma" that caused "internal and external hemorrhage" consistent with the fall.

Further toxicology tests are now expected on his blood, urine and organs to determine whether there were any traces of drugs or other substances in his system at the time of his death.

The reason for Payne's fall from height - estimated to be around 10 metres - is currently unknown, with police now working to determine if it was homicide, suicide or accidental.

Investigators at the scene are thought to have discovered whiskey, champagne and "a white powder", among other items, in the singer's room, while the screen of the TV set was smashed.

Payne is survived by his seven-year-old son Bear, his parents and two older sisters.
