Jon Favreau confirms The Mandalorian season two for October

The Mandalorian creator Jon Favreau reveals that season two of the Star Wars spinoff will be released as planned on Disney+ in October.

The Mandalorian creator Jon Favreau has confirmed that the release of the show's second season has not been delayed by the coronavirus pandemic.

The Star Wars spinoff was one of the main attractions of the new Disney+ streaming service when it launched last year, and a second season was given the green light before the first had even been released.

Filming on season two concluded in early March, just before the coronavirus lockdown kicked in, and Favreau has revealed that post-production has remained on schedule due to remote working.

"Thanks to how technology forward Lucasfilm and ILM are, we've done all our visual effects and editing and all post-production remotely," he told the ATX Festival 2020. "So we've been very efficient in that sense so it will be available as planned in October on Disney+.

"We have been hopefully building on what people love about the first season. It felt like one continuous production because of the rhythm of TV, it's not like you get to stop. We started filming the day after it aired for the first time, so it doesn't feel like the next season - we're just continuing.

"It's really been fun and fulfilling and I hope people are having as much fun seeing it as we are making it."

Even though it has yet to get the official go-ahead, Favreau has already started pre-production on season three.
