Karen Hauer still in dark over Strictly Come Dancing return

Karen Hauer reveals that she still has no idea whether Strictly Come Dancing will go ahead as planned this autumn.

Strictly Come Dancing professional Karen Hauer has admitted that she still has no idea whether the show will be going ahead as usual this autumn.

The pros normally get together at the end of July to start rehearsals ahead of the series beginning in September, with the celebrity contestants joining in soon afterwards.

This year's series remains in doubt due to the coronavirus pandemic, although producers are working on a number of potential measures - including scrapping studio audiences, testing participants for COVID-19 and quarantining contestants - to ensure that Strictly can go ahead as planned.

"We usually start rehearsals in late July," Hauer told FUBAR Radio. "As far as I know, fingers crossed I'm hoping it's still going forward, but we're just kind of waiting day by day to see what they tell us. Obviously we'd love for it to happen!"

Asked about how the show might be able to comply with social distancing guidelines, she replied: "That's just gonna be... side by side maybe? It can always happen. We can always make it work. It doesn't always have to be in contact. We can get creative!"

Rumoured celebs for this year's lineup include RuPaul Charles, Michelle Keegan, Catherine Tate and Jamie Laing.
