Andy Murray's second-round Wimbledon encounter with Stefanos Tsitsipas peaks with over 5 million viewers for BBC One.

Andy Murray's second-round Wimbledon encounter with Greece's Stefanos Tsitsipas was seen by a peak of more than 5 million viewers on BBC One last night, according to overnight figures.

The match - staged on the eve of Murray's maiden triumph at the tournament 10 years ago - was played under the lights at Centre Court as the primetime showpiece on day four of the action in SW19.

After losing the opening set to the number four seed on a tie-break, the Scot rallied back with a tie-break win in the second, taking the momentum on to win the third before the match was suspended for the day just before the 11pm curfew.

Overall, BBC One's coverage of the live action averaged an impressive 3.94m (29.3%) between 7pm and 10.45pm - comfortably the top ratings for the day - with a peak audience of 5.02m (43.5%) coming as play ended at 10.38pm.

Official ratings figures do not take into account people who may have been watching the match in pubs, bars or other non-household settings.

Murray will be back on Centre Court to complete the match at approximately 3pm today.
