While the situations of Mohamed Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk are dominating the Anfield contract headlines, Diaz's situation is also shrouded in uncertainty ahead of the summer.

The Colombian attacker is about to enter the final two years of his contract, and it has been claimed that he is demanding a massive pay rise in order to pen fresh terms with the Premier League leaders.

Talks with Diaz's camp have not been bearing fruit yet, though, potentially leaving the Reds with a huge decision to make in the upcoming window if the two parties cannot shake hands on a renewal.

The former Porto man is said to have caught the eye of a few suitors in recent weeks, including Juventus and Atletico Madrid, the latter of whom are supposedly plotting a swoop after ending their interest in another Liverpool player.

However, Barcelona are always said to have had the strongest interest in signing Diaz, and it was reported last month that the 28-year-old was already 'in dialogue' over a move to the Blaugrana this summer.

Now, a fresh update from Mundo Deportivo claims that Diaz is willing to wait for Barcelona to make him a firm offer, and he 'would not hesitate' to jump ship for Hansi Flick's side at the end of the season.

Diaz has supposedly dreamt of pulling on the Barcelona jersey since childhood, although he is refusing to get too carried away with the prospect of joining the La Liga leaders until he receives a concrete signal from the club.

Reds boss Arne Slot has reportedly told his bosses to try to keep Diaz for the 2025-26 season, although the Merseyside giants are not ruling out a sale in the event that they need to raise a significant amount for Newcastle United's Alexander Isak.

That lucrative sum could also arrive in the form of an offer from the Saudi Pro League, who also have their eye on Diaz, and Liverpool will reportedly try to sign Bayern Munich's Leroy Sane on a free transfer if the South American departs.

Diaz has contributed 37 goals and 18 assists in 140 appearances for Liverpool since his arrival from Porto midway through the 2021-22 season, including 13 efforts and five helpers from 42 games in the current campaign.

Could Diaz move to Barcelona benefit Man United?

Should Diaz fulfil his dream of playing for Barcelona, the Colombia international would represent an exciting option on the left for Flick, not that the Blaugrana boss has any issues with ruthlessness in the final third right now.

Indeed, the electrifying trio of Robert Lewandowski, Lamine Yamal and Raphinha have registered a combined 115 goals and assists across all competitions this season, including 27 strikes and 20 helpers for the latter alone.

However, Raphinha's future is not set in stone, as he recently admitted that he considered leaving the club and is supposedly on the radar of Manchester United ahead of the summer transfer window.

Barca are said to have placed a mammoth £101m price tag on the ex-Leeds United man, but if Diaz arrives to play in his position, they could very well soften their stance on Raphinha to the benefit of the Red Devils.
