Jan Vertonghen: 'Little between Harry Kane, Romelu Lukaku'

Tottenham Hotspur and Belgium centre-back Jan Vertonghen expects the battle between Harry Kane and Romelu Lukaku for the Golden Boot to go down to the final game.

Jan Vertonghen has admitted that it will be "difficult to split" Harry Kane and Romelu Lukaku in the race for the Premier League's Golden Boot award.

The Tottenham Hotspur centre-back features in the same side as Kane at club level, while also linking up with Lukaku on the international stage with Belgium.

Lukaku came off the bench against Cyprus on Tuesday night to score his 16th goal for the Red Devils in 13 outings, and the Manchester United striker also leads the way in the English top-flight scoring charts.

Vertonghen expects that personal battle to go right down to the wire, telling Sky Sports News: "In my eyes it is difficult to split them. I think they will keep playing for the Golden Boot until the last game of the season like they did last year. Obviously Romelu is in great form.

"Harry is special as well. I can't find the words to describe them enough. They're both totally different, to be honest. Harry has his qualities and Romelu has his and, to be fair, I would rather not play against them. I've got them both in my team so that's something, but in two weeks I have to face Romelu, so I will need my fellow centre-backs."

Kane has finished as top scorer in the Premier League in each of the last two campaigns, scoring a combined 54 goals in that time.
