Baltimore Ravens cornerback Lardarius Webb has admitted that he was concerned for his future following the departure of Haloti Ngata.
Ngata's nine-year stay with the Ravens was ended when he was traded to the Detroit Lions ahead of the free agency due to his high salary cap number.
Webb, who also has a high salary number for the 2015 season, was left fearful that his tenure with the club could be over, and he also feels that the atmosphere at the AFC North outfit will be different without the defensive tackle.
He told The Baltimore Sun: "My heart just dropped. Like, 'am I next?' That's how I felt. Man, if Haloti's gone, I know I'm not here.
"Ed Reed, Ray Lewis, it was kind of predictable. You knew they were leaving. Torrey Smith, I knew he wasn't coming back. Pernell McPhee, some of those guys, we just know they were going to get paid somewhere else.
"But Haloti Ngata, we expected to have him back. To not have him back is going to be a different locker room, different atmosphere. Haloti Ngata, he's the best defensive tackle in the game, hands down. I don't care who else you're talking about."
The 29-year-old recorded 49 tackles and one interception for the Ravens last season.
