Chicago Bears head coach Marc Trestman has revealed that he could rest some of his starters against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday.
The Bears play on primetime on Sunday Night Football and a defeat for the Detroit Lions earlier in the day would leave Trestman's side in a straight shootout with the Green Bay Packers for the NFC North and the playoff spot that comes from it.
Trestman told CBS: "Right now, we're focused on winning a game and there's nothing else to discuss at this time. And at 7 p.m. Eastern Time Sunday night, if the situation needs to be re-evaluated again, it's open for discussion.
"We're 8-6 and we need to continue to progress and win, I think that's No. 1. No. 2 is, winning does take us a to a different place in terms of potential seeding, which is critically important, so just leaving it at that is enough to reason out how we would want to play the game."
Chicago are 8-6 in their season going into their week 16 clash with the Eagles.
