Jerry Jones plays down Dallas Cowboys pre-season fights

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones insists that training camp fights involving wide receiver Dez Bryant have been overstated in the media.

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has played down fights that have occurred during his side's training camp involving star wide receiver Dez Bryant.

Bryant has been involved in several altercations with teammates Tyler Patmon during the summer, while he and the rest of the Cowboys were embroiled in a mass melee in their joint practice session with the St Louis Rams.

"Let's just look at our experience with Dez, mine with him here for five years, going on six," Jones told 105.3 The Fan. "Look at all of us. We know that when he lights up, it's like a sparkler lighting up on the other end of the deal. It just sparkles.

"If it's anything, it not only creates some excitement, it creates tension. You think he's absolutely a candle burning at both ends. He's just going to blow up. And, of course, that's Dez. It's that personality right there."

Bryant penned a new long-term deal with the Cowboys last month.
