Reggie Bush has said that he was able to take his opportunities during his first appearance for the Detroit Lions.
The running back had just three carries in the Lions' 26-17 pre-season win over the New York Jets, but secured a first down after leaping over an opponent to avoid a tackle.
The 28-year-old told the team's website: "It was good to get the crowd going a little bit. I didn't plan [to hurdle a defender]. It was kind of an instincts thing because the guy was going so low so it just kind of happened that way. I could care less about the hurdle, it was just getting a first down.
"I can definitely bring a little bit to this team to where it takes a little pressure off some of the other guys and vice versa. I definitely felt like we took advantage of some of those opportunities today and it was good to see that."
Bush signed for the Lions as a free agent earlier this year, having reached the end of his previous deal with the Miami Dolphins.
