Reggie Bush reveals dislocated thumb

Detroit Lions running back Reggie Bush reveals that he dislocated his thumb in the first quarter of his side's 34-24 win over the Minnesota Vikings.

Detroit Lions running back Reggie Bush has revealed that he dislocated his thumb and pulled his groin during the first quarter of his side's opening match of the NFL season.

Bush, who was making his debut for the Lions, missed some time before returning to the field and helping his side to a 34-24 win over the Minnesota Vikings.

The 28-year-old, who caught four passes for 101 yards and a touchdown as well as rushing 21 times for 90 yards, revealed the extent of his thumb injury only after the match.

"[My] thumb's all right. It'll probably start killing me in a little bit once everything wears off," ESPN quotes Bush as saying.

"I dislocated it early in the first quarter and it was facing the wrong direction. They just popped it back in. Thankfully I was able to tape it up and carry the ball in my right hand.

"I know I said I didn't get beat up this game. Just had a few things here and there and was able to play through some of this stuff."

The Lions will look to continue their winning start to the new NFL campaign when they face the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday.
