Green Bay Packers sign Colt Lyerla

The Green Bay Packers sign undrafted free agent tight end Colt Lyerla.

The Green Bay Packers have signed undrafted free agent Colt Lyerla after he impressed during a tryout with the team.

Lyerla was given a shot at reaching the NFL by the Packers despite a troubled final year of college that saw him leave the University of Oregon team before being arrested for possession of cocaine and attempting to flee the police.

However, the tight end posted impressive figures during the scouting combine and Green Bay general manager Ted Thompson has now decided to take the risk on him despite the off-field troubles.


The Packers also chose another tight end, Richard Rodgers, in the third round of this year's Draft.
