Andy Reid: Kansas City Chiefs "had their hearts ripped out"

Kansas City Chiefs coach Andy Reid admits that his side felt as if they had "had their hearts ripped out" after blowing a 28-point lead to lose to the Indianapolis Colts.

Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid has revealed that his players felt as if they had "had their hearts ripped out" after losing to the Indianapolis Colts in the playoffs on Saturday.

The Colts produced the second biggest comeback in NFL playoff history to beat the Chiefs 45-44 in an incredible opening to the 2013 post-season, recovering from a 28-point deficit to reach the Divisional round.

Reid, who guided his side to an 11-5 record in the regular season just a year after finishing 2-14, has acknowledged that his side were gutted by the defeat, but hints that such a loss could help them in the future.

"I sat there and talked to them this morning and there were a lot of long faces. They had their hearts ripped out. I can work with that. They should hurt. That'll make us better," Reid told The AP.

The Colts will now face the New England Patriots in the Divisional playoff match on Saturday.
