Kansas City Chiefs cut wideouts Donnie Avery, AJ Jenkins

The Kansas City Chiefs confirm that they have cut wide receivers AJ Jenkins and Donnie Avery after the duo's struggles in the 2014 season.

The Kansas City Chiefs have announced that they have released wide receivers AJ Jenkins and Donnie Avery.

The Chiefs struggled to get production from their wideouts in the 2014 season as the club went the entire season without recording a touchdown from their designated wide receivers.

This has prompted change from the club as they have taken the decision to end Avery's two years with the team after he recorded just 15 receptions for 176 yards in the 2014 campaign.

Andy Reid's men have also parted company with Jenkins as he totalled 17 receptions for 223 yards in two years with the team after arriving in a trade deal from the San Francisco 49ers in 2013.

The Chiefs missed the playoffs last season as they posted a 9-7 record.
