Greg Jennings: 'Cordarrelle Patterson needs to be our number one'

Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Greg Jennings admits that teammate Cordarrelle Patterson needs to put down his mark in his second season at the club.

Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Greg Jennings has revealed that he wants teammate Cordarrelle Patterson to surpass him as his side's number one wideout this season.

The Vikings selected Patterson 29th overall in the first round of the 2013 Draft and the 23-year-old had a solid rookie campaign with the club, which included some big plays for his side's offense.

However, Jennings now wants his teammate to progress even further in his second season and become the focal point of the Vikings' receiving corps.

"I wanted him to know that, coming in, the expectation of you is no longer 'rookie.' It's, 'You gotta go. We saw what you can do. We're gonna showcase this,'" Jennings told ESPN.

"For me, it was making sure that he understands that he has to be a professional.

"He has to be a pro's pro when he steps foot in this building, because we're expecting [him] to give us what we've seen you put out there."

Patterson recorded 45 receptions for 458 yards and also ran for 158 yards along with scoring seven touchdowns for his side last season.
