Harrison Smith ready to return for Minnesota Vikings

Minnesota Vikings safety Harrison Smith returns to the team's active roster after nine weeks out with a toe injury.

The Minnesota Vikings have activated Harrison Smith ahead of today's game against the Philadelphia Eagles.

The safety was placed on the team's injured reserve designated to return spot earlier this season after sustaining a toe injury during the defeat to the Carolina Panthers.

The NFC North side also signed cornerback Robert Steeples and running back Joe Banyard from their practice squad as cover for injured players.

Josh Robinson was placed on injured reserve with a chest injury, while tackle Mike Remmers was waived to make room on the active roster.
