New England Patriots place Brandon Spikes on injured reserve

The New England Patriots confirm that linebacker Brandon Spikes will miss the rest of their season after being place on injured reserve with a knee injury.

The New England Patriots have announced that they have placed linebacker Brandon Spikes on their injured-reserve list.

The 26-year-old has been struggling with a knee problem for most of the season, but managed to play in all of his side's 16 games in the 2013 campaign.

However, he aggravated his problem in his side's win over the Buffalo Bills and will now miss their clash in the divisional round of the playoffs with the Indianapolis Colts and any future games, as a result of being placed on IR.

Spikes joins Jerod Mayo, Rob Gronkowski, Vince Wilfork, Tommy Kelly and Sebastian Vollmer on the Patriots' reserve list with injuries this season.
