Tom Coughlin: 'No excuse for defeat to Seattle Seahawks'

New York Giants head coach Tom Coughlin refuses to give excuses for his side's 23-0 loss to the Seattle Seahawks yesterday.

New York Giants head coach Tom Coughlin has refused to give excuses for his side's 23-0 loss to the Seattle Seahawks yesterday.

The Giants offense made just 181 yards as they were shut out by the Seahawks defense, who showed exactly why they have the best defensive record in the league this season.

The hosts were not helped by a career-high five interceptions thrown by quarterback Eli Manning, and Coughlin admits that his side gave away too many turnovers to be able to compete with the NFL's leading side.

"We're not taking anything away from their defense. They're number one in the league for a reason, they are a good defensive team," Coughlin told The AP.

"There's no excuse for what went on out there. We kept turning the ball over, and put our defense back out there over and over and over again."

The result saw the Giants fall to 5-9 for the season, ensuring that they would have a losing record for the first time since 2004.
