Report: New York Giants' Jason Pierre-Paul suffers hand injury lighting fireworks

A report suggests that New York Giants defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul suffered a hand injury while lighting fireworks as part of July 4 celebrations.

New York Giants defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul has sustained a hand injury while attempting to light fireworks, according to a report.

The 26-year-old is currently not under contract with Tom Coughlin's men after he failed to sign his franchise-tag tender for the 2015 season, worth $14.8m (£9.5m).

Pierre-Paul was reported to have bought several fireworks as part of the July 4 celebrations, but sustained a hand injury which required treatment in hospital, according to NFL Network.

The defensive end has recorded 286 tackles, 42 sacks and two interceptions in his five-year NFL career.
