Report: Terrelle Pryor to start season opener

Oakland Raiders coach Dennis Allen reportedly decides on Terrelle Pryor as his side's starting quarterback for the opening match of the season.

The Oakland Raiders have reportedly named Terrelle Pryor as their starting quarterback for the opening match of the season.

Pryor had been competing for the starting jersey with former Green Bay Packers and Seattle Seahawks quarterback Matt Flynn throughout pre-season.

Raiders coach Dennis Allen has been keen to keep the competition going between the duo, refraining from naming his number one quarterback until the last minute.

However, while he is yet to officially confirm the news, multiple reports suggest that he has now decided on Pryor.

The 24-year-old helped his side to claim 32 points on 14 drives during pre-season, while Flynn's time on the field yielded just 10 points from 13 drives.

Flynn has spent his entire NFL career as a back-up quarterback, having been behind Aaron Rodgers at the Packers and Russell Wilson at the Seahawks.

The 28-year-old has generally impressed when he has played, however, setting a Packers franchise record of throwing for 480 yards and six touchdowns in his one and only start since 2011.
