Report: Oakland Raiders release quarterback Matt Flynn

Quarterback Matt Flynn is released by the Oakland Raiders just six months after the club traded a 2014 Draft pick to sign him, according to a report.

The Oakland Raiders have reportedly cut quarterback Matt Flynn after just six months at the club.

The Raiders traded their 2014 fifth-round Draft pick for the 28-year-old from the Seattle Seahawks to be their starting quarterback for the 2013 season.

However, Flynn lost the battle to become the starter in training camp to Terrelle Pryor and fell further in the pecking order behind undrafted rookie Matt McGloin this week.

As a result of being third choice, the Raiders made the decision to release him from their 53-man roster, reports Sports Illustrated.

The Raiders are 2-3 in their season following their win over the San Diego Chargers on Sunday.
