The San Diego Chargers have confirmed that they have placed rookie cornerback Jason Verrett on season-ending injured reserve.
The 23-year-old had been struggling with a shoulder injury which caused him to miss his side's heavy defeat to the Miami Dolphins last time out.
However, the tears in his labrum and rotator cuff have been deemed too serious for him to return this season, and as a result he has been placed on their injured-reserve list.
Verrett had recorded 19 tackles and one interception for the Chargers in six games this season.
