Anquan Boldin has described teammate Colin Kaepernick as a "special talent" after taking part in a practice with the San Francisco 49ers quarterback on Tuesday.
The wide receiver emerged as Kaepernick's top target yesterday, catching 10 passes from the 25-year-old.
Boldin told the team's website: "He's a special talent. He can make any throw on the field. I want Kap to be comfortable. Even if it doesn't look like I'm open, give me a chance.
"It's definitely on us to get better as a receiving corps. A guy like [Michael] Crabtree you don't replace. When you lose a guy like that, the next guy has to step up. There is no wait and see."
Head coach Jim Harbaugh added: "You got a good look at what [Boldin]'s been doing. He's just very serious about competing and very serious about football and winning. I think it'll speak volumes if the young guys observe that."
The 49ers acquired Boldin earlier in the off-season in a trade with the Baltimore Ravens.
