Deion Sanders shocked by Seattle Seahawks' "worst call in Super Bowl history"

Former player Deion Sanders describes Seattle Seahawks' last play in their defeat to the New England Patriots as the "worst call in Super Bowl history".

Ex-NFL cornerback Deion Sanders has slammed Seattle Seahawks for "the worst call in Super Bowl history" following their 28-24 defeat to the New England Patriots.

Seattle were chasing a late touchdown to win the game, but quarterback Russell Wilson was intercepted by Malcolm Butler only one yard from the endzone with just seconds left on the clock.

Sanders said that they should have run the ball and used Marshawn Lynch, who is the team's leading touchdown scorer.

He told the NFL website: "That was the worst play call in Super Bowl history. In the second demotion, that was the worst decision by a quarterback. You have Marshawn Lynch in the backfield, Michael alluded to as the best running back in the NFL this season, and you chance it with a pass play.

"You call the pass play first of all, that was wrong, but to actually make that throw was the second wrong. People are leaving the stadium saying 'are you kidding me'?"

Seattle led by 10 points going into the final quarter but were undone by two Tom Brady touchdown passes.
