Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Greg Schiano has admitted that he is "concerned" with safety Dashon Goldson's disciplinary record.

Goldson has drawn 15 personal fouls since 2010, more than any other player in the NFL during that time, most recently receiving a one-match suspension for a helmet-to-helmet hit on New Orleans Saints running back Darren Sproles just a week after being fined $30,000 for a hit on New York Jets tight end Jeff Cumberland.

However, Schiano, who signed Goldson this off-season on a five-year contract, insists that the former San Francisco 49ers man is aware of his poor disciplinary record and is trying to improve it.

"When we made the decision to bring Dashon here, that was not a concern. Was I aware that he was a big hitter? Yes. Now, it's a concern that he may get suspended, but Dashon is trying to do the right thing," Schiano told reporters.

"He's just got to lower his target point and sometimes the point moves, so that means you have to go lower still. He certainly is trying.

"It's not one of those, 'Oh, I don't care, I'm just going to do that.' He's very aware and trying."

Goldson's ban will rule him out of Sunday's match against the New England Patriots, subject to an appeal.
